PROJECT: 214-80317-12 AID/ASSIST STRANDED VESSEL

TYPE: Emergency Action

STATUS: Complete 2522519.1564699

NOTIFICATION: SROBSON_, OBEYERGA, GMILCIEC, EFECCMD9

DESCRIPTION: Respond to location of disabled craft and render aid.

DETAIL: Transmission received L-2194-Apr-25 13:07:43 from craft squawking ID-MC19228-40CC declaring emergency, vessel stranded/adrift. No further details. Location unknown - assumed 1510 to 1508 or further out.

ACTIONS: Multiple

  • Determine stranded vessel true position
  • Plot optimal course(s) to destination
  • Evaluate BR's mission-readiness for diversion
  • Brief Beyergarten and/or Cpt. Milciechowski
  • Get orders
  • Brief crew chiefs and prepare for diversion
  • Divert to new course
  • Commence rescue efforts on arrival

UPDATE L-2194-Apr-25 13:35:15: Stranded vessel is in L03! Beyergarten verified. Will recommend course following 1515 lanes to L15-L10 bridge, then L10 to L03. Can use decommed military lanes without notification under Harbor Angel Accord. Diversion takes us off-mission to the limits of our readiness. Will need to resupply before return to mission. Briefing Beyergarten and Milc. directly.

UPDATE L-2194-Apr-25 15:52:47: Cpt. Milc. gave orders to depart off-mission. Distributed orders to chiefs. BR is underway on new course for 1503. Estimated arrival in 56 hours, our local. Tennesyn squawked response to stranded craft - should receive in approximately 22 hours.

UPDATE L-2194-Apr-26 16:30:08: Arrived at L05, in-range for deep-scans. Derelict craft is no longer in position. Tennesyn squawked for update. Will continue on-course for now.

UPDATE L-2194-Apr-27 08:32:44: Response from stranded pilot - recalc'd location is EXACTLY the same as initial - very odd. Continuing on-course. Should arrive in approx. eight hours.

UPDATE L-2194-Apr-27 15:03:09: In L03 more than eight hours early. Not sure why calculations were off so dramatically - fairly straightforward maths. Continuing to vessel coordinates.

RESULTS: Derelict craft not located. Arrived in 1503 nearly nine hours ahead of estimates - scans did not detect any vessels in vicinity. Have received no communication from stranded pilot as to whether he is again underway or otherwise. Unfortunately suspect catastrophic failure, though no signs to that effect.

AFTER ACTION: Will conduct additional survey of area at captain's insistence, but do not anticipate worthwhile findings. Will file report and transmit.
